Factiv: 100% science-backed homegrown skincare brand

WHAT:
Factiv is a Hong Kong invented skincare brand. Their formula is purely scientific.

WHY:
Founder and formulist are chemistry grads. They realized ingredients of existing skincare products were mostly the same, yet overly packaged. They believe having active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) is the most important, but brands only focus on their promotional means. Hence they want to help customers to buy rationally through prioritizing functionality and ingredients, and inspire them to understand the science behind their products.

HOW:
Product formulas are invented in the labs of Hong Kong Science Park (HKSTP). The test formula will be sealed and sent along with the raw ingredients to their factory in Tuen Moon, eventually produce in large quantity.

WHAT’S GOING ON NOW:
They are currently developing a new product line to tackle sensitive, injured skin surfaces and eczema.

They also redesigned their packages to 100% recyclable materials.

Skincare products are everywhere. It is difficult for a new brand to to outstand existing competitors.

Solution

Factiv focuses on transparency, quality and engagement.
Its products are named directly from its chemical formula, and adopted minimalistic design. They also engage with customers in social media instead of one-way promotion.
They also attached QR code at the back of the products for customers to understand its ingredients.
